Who can use Sova Stories

The Service is for parents and legal guardians. You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any child whose profile you create. Children do not create accounts or log in.

You, the parent or guardian, are our customer and the only user of your account. Children are not users of Sova Stories. Stories are written for you to read aloud to your child, and every email, text message and story we send is addressed to you.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login details safe and for everything that happens under your account. Please give accurate information and keep it up to date. Tell us right away at hello@sovastories.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

If we learn that a child has used an account or our support chat, we may delete what the child entered and contact you, and we may suspend the account until we've spoken with you.

Inviting another adult. You may invite one other adult to receive your family's stories. Invite only adults (18+) you know and trust, and only with their agreement; never invite a child. You're responsible for who you invite and for what you share with them, including your children's first names and stories. The invited adult can stop the stories at any time, and you can remove them at any time from your account.

Free trial

New accounts get a 3-day free trial. No payment details are needed to start it, and you won't be charged during or after the trial unless you choose to subscribe. When the trial ends, nightly stories stop until you subscribe. We may change or end the trial offer for new customers at any time.

Subscriptions, billing and automatic renewal

We offer monthly subscription plans, currently One Dreamer ($7/month), Growing Family ($12/month) and The Whole Nest ($24/month), plus applicable sales tax. Plan details are shown on our pricing section and at checkout.

Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We don't store your full card number. If a payment fails, we and Stripe may retry it, and nightly stories may pause until payment succeeds.

When you subscribe, the Subscribe button shows that your plan renews automatically, and by clicking it you agree to automatic renewal. We then email you a confirmation with these terms and how to cancel. We also send a reminder once a year while your subscription continues.

If we change our prices, we'll email you 7 to 30 days before the new price applies to your subscription, with instructions for cancelling. You can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.

If you switch plans, Stripe adjusts your bill for the rest of the month (charging or crediting the difference).

Cancelling and pausing

You can cancel your subscription at any time, online, from your account: untick Automatic renewal. Turning off automatic renewal cancels your subscription at the end of your paid month, and you can turn it back on before then. You can also email hello@sovastories.com and we'll cancel it for you. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid month. Your stories continue until then, and you won't be charged again. You can also pause billing for 1 to 3 months, or skip individual nights without changing your billing.

Cancelling doesn't delete your account, so you can come back any time. Refunds are covered in our Refund Policy.

Promotions and promo codes

From time to time we may offer promo codes, such as a discount on your first month. Each promotion shows its terms: the discount, how long it lasts, which plans it covers, and when the offer ends. Unless the promotion says otherwise, a code is for new subscribers, one per account, can't be combined with other codes, and has no cash value. After the discounted period, your plan renews at its regular price. We may end or change a promotion at any time, but a discount already applied to your subscription continues for the period it promised.

Gift cards

Sova Stories gift cards are issued by KKnight, LLC. They're digital: we email them and you can print them. There's no physical card.

• No expiration and no fees. A gift card's balance never expires, and we never charge fees on it.
• How to use it: at sovastories.com/redeem, logged in to a Sova Stories account. You can use any part of the balance for bedtime stories, where it becomes credit on your account that pays your monthly plan before your card is charged, or in the Sova Shop, where we give you a Shop gift card code for the amount you choose. Any remaining balance stays on the gift card.
• Credit on your account stays there if you pause or cancel, and is used when you subscribe again. Shop gift card codes don't expire either.
• Gift cards can't be reloaded, used to buy other gift cards, or exchanged for cash, except where the law requires it. For example, in states that require it, we'll pay out a small remaining balance in cash on request.
• Keep your code safe and treat it like cash. If a gift card is lost or stolen, contact us right away. If we can confirm the purchase, we'll cancel the code and reissue any unused balance.
• Gift cards bought in error can be refunded as described in our Refund Policy.

Special-occasion stories

When we offer them, you can order a one-off story for a special night, such as a birthday or a first day of school, for a one-time price shown when you order. It's written for your family, checked by our safety and quality review, and delivered at your usual bedtime that night, on top of your regular story. It doesn't change your subscription. If we can't deliver it that night, we refund you in full.

Your stories and how you may use them

Stories are written for your family using the details you share in your child profiles. To the extent we have rights in them, we give you a personal, non-commercial license to read, print, save and share your stories with family and friends. Please don't sell them or use them commercially. Because the stories are written by AI, they may not be protected by copyright in the usual way.

Stories use original characters. We don't include characters, names or worlds that belong to others (for example from TV shows, movies, books or games), even if they're mentioned in a profile; the story creates an original character inspired by them instead. Please don't ask us to use someone else's characters, and don't share stories in a way that suggests they're connected to another brand.

You're responsible for the information you add to child profiles. Please only add information you're comfortable using in a story, and don't add sensitive details like full names of other people's children, home addresses or medical information.

How stories are written

Every Sova story is written by artificial intelligence (AI). We use a generative AI model from our provider, Anthropic, guided by the Sova Method™, our story-safety rules and the details you add to your child profiles. Each story then goes through a second, automatic safety check before it's sent. A person doesn't read each story before you receive it.

We work hard to keep every story gentle and age-appropriate, but AI-written content can occasionally contain mistakes, something that doesn't suit your child, or a detail that resembles something written elsewhere. The stories are fiction, and nothing in them is advice.

If a story ever includes something that seems wrong, please tell us through our contact form or at hello@sovastories.com. We read every report, use it to improve our story rules, and will make it right, for example with a replacement story or a credit for that night. To the fullest extent the law allows, that is our responsibility for the content of an AI-written story; the limits in "Disclaimers and limits of liability" below also apply.

Not therapy or medical advice

The Sova Method is not a therapeutic method. It's a storytelling method: it takes simple relaxation techniques from different practices, such as hypnotherapy, biofeedback, NLP, guided meditation and ASMR, and layers them into a narrative story that invites relaxation and calm at bedtime. It isn't hypnotherapy, therapy or counseling, and reading a Sova story isn't a session of any of these. It does not hypnotize the child listening or the parent reading. There is nothing clinically curative or therapeutic about it.

Sova Stories uses calming storytelling techniques inspired by practices such as guided meditation and relaxation. The Service is for comfort and enjoyment only. It is not medical, psychological or therapeutic treatment and isn't a substitute for advice from a doctor or other qualified professional. If your child has ongoing sleep, anxiety or health concerns, please talk to a professional.

Email and text messages

If you choose text message delivery, our SMS Terms also apply. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.

Acceptable use

Please don't misuse the Service. For example, don't try to access other people's accounts, interfere with the Service, copy or resell it, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

Our content

The Sova Stories name, owl logo, the Wonder the Owl™ character, website, designs and story methods belong to us and are protected by law. Apart from the license to your own stories described above, these Terms don't give you any rights to our brand or content.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

We work hard to deliver your story every night, but the Service is provided "as is" and we can't promise it will always be available, on time or error-free. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, KKnight, LLC won't be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending these Terms

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end the Service, or your access to it, if you break these Terms or if we stop offering the Service. If we end the Service for reasons other than your breach, we'll refund any prepaid amount for time you didn't receive.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Utah County, Utah, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make important changes, we'll let you know by email or on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
